Set up a Total Override Discount in RMS to cap a defined number of nights at a fixed total amount.

Overview

Total Override Discounts let you create promotions where a set number of nights in the stay are capped at a total amount (for example, Stay 5 nights for $500 total).

How it works:

• Specify the number of nights and the total charge to cap.
• RMS applies a per-night discount across the selected nights so the total equals the value entered, effectively levelling nightly rates across the period to honour the total.
• An optional cap can be set on the maximum number of Adults and/or Children the discount applies to.

The Total Rate includes the Base Rate, Additionals, Packages, Derived Rate Adjustments and Dynamic Pricing.

Guide

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Accounting > Discounts.

1. Select Add.
   
    
2. Enter a Discount Name.
3. Choose Use Default GL Acc Code and select an account from the dropdown, or choose Use Targeted GL Acc Code.
   (Optional) Select a Grouping.
   (Optional) Enter the minimum and maximum Nights Stay length-of-stay restrictions.
4. Set the Discount Type to Total Override.
5. In Options, enter the number of nights to cap in the Up to the first field.
6. Enter the total charge for those nights in Night/s with total charge of.
   (Optional) Select Include Additionals In Calculation if these charges should be included in the cap.
   (Optional) Enter the maximum number of Adults and/or Children the discount applies to.
7. Select Save.
   
    
8. Select the Discount Access.
9. Select Apply.
   
    
10. Navigate to the Property/Category tab.
11. Select the Property.
    (Optional) Select the Category Grouping.
12. Select the Categories.
    (Optional) Navigate to the Validation Options tab and click Add to limit when the Discount will be available.
13. Select Save\Exit.
    

Validation Options

Total Override Discounts can be limited using:

• Minimum and maximum length of stay.
• Reservations staying within a specified date range.
• Reservations made within a specified booking window/date range.
