An Area Requirement is a Requirement that is attached to a specific Area so that it is automatically added to every Reservation for that Area.
Overview
Requirement is a predefined extra item or service (for example, cot hire, parking, pet fee) that you want RMS to:
attach to Reservations or Areas automatically, and
optionally charge to the Guest using a Sundry Charge.
Requirements are typically operational or rule‑based extras that the property configures to apply automatically. Other extras, such as Add-Ons are usually optional upsells that the Guest chooses during the booking process.

In RMS, inventory is structured as:
Property → Category → Area
An Area is the individual, bookable space (for example, a specific room, site, cabin, or berth) within a Category.
A Category groups similar Areas together (for example, “Standard Room”, “Powered Site”).
The Category Classification determines the type of Reservation available for an Area in that Category.
A Requirement is an extra item or service for the Guest that can:
be attached to a Reservation or Area, and
optionally include a fee using a Sundry Charge.

When you configure an Area Requirement:
The Sundry selected on the Requirement will be created on the Reservation Account at the same time as the Rate.
The Reservation Account Type the Sundry is created on is determined by the Property's Accounting Options.
Requirement Options
Below outlines the functionality of the requirement options:

Monitor this Requirement:
Makes the Requirement a same-day task so staff can mark it as completed (for example, “Deliver cot on arrival”). -
Appears on Housekeepers Report:
Includes the Requirement on the Housekeepers Report so housekeeping can see and action it (for example, “Extra towels”, “Cot required”). -
Daily Requirement:
Applies the Requirement to every date in the Reservation rather than just once (for example, a daily parking or pet fee).
Guide
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Category/Area.
- Select Edit on an existing Category.
- Navigate to the Area tab.
- Select an existing Area.
- Click Edit.
- Navigate to the Requirements tab.
- Select Add.
- Select the Requirement.
- If charges will apply, select the Sundry.
- Enter the Quantity and Unit Price or select Use Amount from Sundry.
(Optional) Select additional options if required.
