Set the SMS 1-Way From Name for a property

Setup a name to display for a Property sending SMS in RMS.

Important! SMS 1-Way is no longer supported. If you have any questions, please contact the RMS Customer Support Team. Ref: KM-982.

 

Overview

The "SMS From Name" will be displayed as the sender in place of the Property's Mobile Number when using the 1-Way SMS module.

The SMS From Name will prevent replying to the SMS and cannot be used with the 2-Way SMS module.
The SMS From Name is limited to eleven characters.

Limitations by some carriers, including carriers in the United States, will prevent delivery of an SMS when an alphanumeric SMS From Name is used in place of the mobile number.

The Property Name merge field can be inserted into the SMS Template to identify the sender to the recipient of the SMS sent in RMS.

 

⚠ Important - Registration Required:  SMS From Names must be registered with our SMS provider before they will work. Setting a From Name in RMS without it being registered will cause SMS messages to silently fail (no error will be displayed, but messages will not be delivered).

If you wish to set up or change an SMS From Name, please log a support ticket first. Our team will coordinate the registration of your From Name with the SMS provider on your behalf. Once registration is confirmed, you can proceed with the setup steps below.

If you would prefer to receive guest replies and avoid this registration step, consider activating 2-Way SMS instead.
⚠ Important: The 1-Way SMS module is a legacy feature and is no longer available for new activations.

Setup

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information,

  1. Select 'Edit'  on an existing Property.

  2. Navigate to the 'Features' tab.
  3. Enter the SMS From Name.
  4. Select Save/Exit.
