A Payment Mode identifies the method of payment for a reservation and determines which party is responsible for payment on each Reservation Account Type.

A Payment Mode controls two things on a reservation: the method of payment and the Reservation Account Bill To for each Reservation Account Type.

The Reservation Account Bill To is the party responsible for payment on a given Reservation Account Type. This party will appear as the addressee on any Statement or Tax Invoice created for that Reservation Account Type. The available Reservation Account Types for a property are determined by the Accounting Options configured for the property.

The Reservation Account Bill To can be set from Default Bill To, Company Bill To, Travel Agent Bill To, Channel Bill To, Payment Mode, and directly on the Reservation Account.

When a reservation is first created, the following hierarchy determines the Bill To on each Reservation Account Type (listed from highest to lowest priority):

The Reservation Account Bill To can also be changed directly on the Reservation Account at any time.

Creating Payment Modes

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Accounting > Payment Modes.

1. Select Add.

2. Enter a Code.
3. Enter the Payment Mode Description.
4. Select a Bill To for each Reservation Account Type.
5. Optional - Arianne Kiosk Setup: If your property uses an Arianne Kiosk connected with RMS, you can configure automated billing actions for self-service check-in and check-out. Select a Billing Action for Pay at Arrival and a Billing Action for Pay at Departure. If your property does not use an Arianne Kiosk, skip this step.
6. Select Save/Exit.

Applying a Payment Mode to a Reservation

Once Payment Modes have been created, the Payment Mode field will be available for selection on the reservation screen (if enabled via Field Maintenance).

Selecting a Payment Mode on a reservation, or changing the selected Payment Mode, will update the Reservation Account Bill To on each Reservation Account Type based on the Bill To values configured on the Payment Mode.
