Availability, Rates & Inventory (ARI) is the information RMS keeps in sync with every channel you connect, so your rooms show the right price and availability everywhere your property is listed.
Information
When you connect a channel through Channel Connection, RMS sends that channel three types of information: Availability, Rates and Inventory, together known as ARI. You will find the settings that control this under the Availability, Rates & Inventory (ARI) Settings section of the channel's connection screen.
Getting ARI right means guests see accurate prices and up-to-date availability wherever they search, whether that is an Online Travel Agent (OTA), a Global Distribution System (GDS), or your own RMS Booking Engine.
The Three Parts of ARI
| Part | What It Covers |
|---|---|
| Availability | Whether a room can be booked on a given date. Controlled by restrictions such as Stop Sell, Closed to Arrival, Closed to Departure, and Minimum Nights (MLOS), and by how much inventory you release to the channel (see Inventory below). |
| Rates | The price a channel receives for each room and date, taken from your Rate Manager Chart for the Rate Types mapped to that channel. |
| Inventory | How many rooms a channel can sell. Set to Full Availability, a shared Default Allotment, or a Channel Allotment set for that channel alone. |
How Updates Reach Your Channels
RMS sends most ARI changes to your connected channels automatically, as soon as you make them. A rate change, a new Stop Sell, or a change in availability all go out without any extra step from you.
A small number of changes do not push automatically and need a Manual OTA Resync instead. These include deleting and recreating a Rate Table, renaming or restructuring a Category, changing a Derived Rate link, and reconnecting a channel after it has been disconnected.
Please Note! If you disconnect a channel, RMS stops sending it rate and availability updates straight away. Update rates and availability directly on the channel's own site until you reconnect, or you risk overbookings.
If Availability or Rates Look Wrong on a Channel
Start with the Channel Manager Troubleshooting Guide for a general check of your mapping and setup. For a rate or availability figure that specifically will not update, see Troubleshooting: Rates or Availability Not Updating on a Channel.
Each connected channel also has its own Channel Information article with an Availability, Rate & Reservation Data Exchange table, showing exactly which restrictions and ARI features that channel supports. Search the Help Centre for the channel's name to find it, and see the Availability, Rate & Reservation Glossary for Channel Connections for definitions of every term those tables use.
