This article explains how to set up a Nightly Rate Table using the No of Nights basis in RMS, where the nightly rate is determined by the reservation's total length of stay.
Overview
A Rate Table defines the fee structure for a standalone rate and the calculation point for adjustments applied to a Derived Rate in RMS.
The Nightly Rate Table, based on No of Nights, uses the reservation's total length of stay to determine the rate amount charged for each night. Unlike the Night of the Week format (which varies by day) or the Per Night format (which applies a different amount to each sequential night), the No of Nights format charges the same nightly rate for every night of the reservation. The rate applied is determined by how many nights the guest stays in total.
Length-of-stay restrictions, additional guest fees, Dynamic Pricing rules, and package components can all be included in a Rate Table, with many of these elements configurable across multiple layers of rate components. The Rate Hierarchy governs which validation criteria and rate rules apply when multiple rate layers are used in a reservation.
Configuration
A Rate Type and Rate Table can only be linked in a Rate Lookup if they are set up within the same rate structure. Selecting a Cancellation Policy or setting a Minimum Reservation Period within the Rate Table will override any settings defined at the Rate Type or Rate Period level.
- Navigate to Charts > Rate Manager.
- Select the 'Rates' icon.
- Select Rate Tables.
- Select 'Add'.
- Enter a unique Description.
- Select the 'Direct Rate' Structure.
- Choose the 'Nightly' Format.
- Select 'No Of Nights' for Based On.
- Enter the Person Base (the number of people included in the rate below).
- Enter the Rate Amounts for each length-of-stay tier.
- Configure any additional Rate Features (Optional).
- Select Save/Exit.
No of Nights Rate Calculations
The No of Nights Rate Table uses a tiered structure. Each row on the Rate Table corresponds to a specific length of stay, and all nights in the reservation are charged at the rate that matches the total number of nights booked.
Based on the Rate Table below, reservations are charged as follows:
- A reservation staying four nights pays $750 per night.
- A reservation staying seven nights pays $675 per night.
