Overview
A Rate Table defines the fee structure for a standalone rate and the calculation point for adjustments applied to a Derived Rate in RMS.
The Nightly Rate Table, based on Per Night, determines the pricing for each reservation date according to the specific night of the reservation. The prices set will be applied sequentially from the first to the last night of the reservation, regardless of the day of the week.
Tip! The Loop Back option allows the pricing to revert to the first night’s amount once the specified number of nights has passed in the reservation.
Please Note! A Rate Table using the 'Per Night' format will display 'N/A' for these rates on the Rate Manager Chart. Because each night of a stay can be a different amount, the rate cannot be resolved to a single per-date value before the reservation length is known. See Users See 'N/A' on the Rate Manager Chart for the full list of reasons rates display as N/A.
Length-of-stay restrictions, additional guest fees, Dynamic Pricing rules, and package components can all be included in a Rate Table, with many of these elements configurable across multiple layers of rate components. The Rate Hierarchy governs which validation criteria and rate rules apply when multiple rate layers are used in a reservation.
Please Note! RMS is highly configurable. Some Terminology, User Access & Permissions, Images, Labels, and Functions used in these articles may differ from your setup. CLICK HERE to find out more.
Configuration
A Rate Type and Rate Table can only be linked in a Rate Lookup if they are set up within the same rate structure. Selecting a Cancellation Policy or setting a Minimum Reservation Period within the Rate Table will override any settings defined at the Rate Type or Rate Period level.
Please Note! The Nightly Rate Table, based on Per Night, must be set up within the Direct rate structure.
- Navigate to Charts > Rate Manager.
- Select the 'Rates' icon.
- Select Rate Tables.
- Select 'Add'.
- Enter a unique Description.
- Select the 'Direct Rate' Structure.
- Choose the 'Nightly' Format.
- Select 'Per Night' for Based On.
- Enter the Person Base (the number of people included in the rate below).
- Enter the Rate Amounts.
- Enter a Loop Back (Optional).
- Configure any additional Rate Features (Optional).
- Select Save/Exit.
Please Note! Creating a rate table does not make the rate bookable. To activate the rate, the Rate Table must be linked within the Rate Lookup or through the New Rate Wizard.
