How to use the Rate Wizard to create a new rate at the category level, plus how to scope it to specific areas afterwards.
Overview
The Rate Wizard in RMS is an intuitive, step-by-step tool that helps you set up rates quickly and accurately, especially useful if you're new to rate configuration.
Behind the scenes, the wizard builds a Rate Lookup for you. A Rate Lookup is the link that connects:
a Rate Type,
a Rate Period, and
By guiding you through each decision in order, the Rate Wizard simplifies what would otherwise be a multi-screen setup into a single, guided workflow.
Creating a New Rate
Follow these steps to create a new rate from the Rate Manager using the New Rate Wizard.
- Go to Charts > Rate Manager.
- Select New Rate Wizard.
- Choose a Rate Structure.
- OTA Rate or Direct Rate
- Select an existing Rate Type or Create a New Rate Type.
- Choose Next.
- Select one or more Categories the new rate should apply to.
- Choose Next.
- Select an existing Rate Period or create a new period.
- Choose Next.
- Select either:

Use Existing Rate
(Select a Rate from your existing rates to use the same rate) -
Create New Rate Based on Existing Rate, or
(Select a Rate from your existing rates to copy and update) -
Create New Rate.

Use Existing Rate
- Enter a Rate Table Description.
Use a clear name so you can easily identify this table later (e.g., "BAR - High Season 2026"). - Select the Rate Format.
(E.g., Nightly, Daily, Hourly...) - Enter the Person Base & Rate Amount.
- Click Save.

(Optional) Configure any additional Rate Components.
(E.g., Extra Adult/Child (Additionals), Discounts, or other supplements, depending on your configuration). - Click Save & Exit to complete the setup.
To create additional rates for other periods or categories, repeat this process as many times as needed.
