How to request and update Interactive Maps for Online Bookings..
Overview
Online Interactive Maps are a visual way for your guests to choose and book their site or room directly from your RMS Booking Engine.
Instead of scrolling through a list and guessing where everything is, guests can see your property layout, zoom and pan around the map, and click on available sites in real time.
What can guests do with it?
On the online booking page, guests can:
Explore the park or property visually – see the layout, locations and nearby facilities.
Click on individual sites/rooms to view details like name, type and key information.
See live availability and pricing for the dates they’ve selected.
Choose their preferred site/room and book directly from the map, without needing to go back to a long list.
It’s designed to work smoothly on both desktop and mobile devices.
Fact Sheet
Why use Interactive Maps?
For properties, Interactive Maps:
Delivers a modern, “pick your own site” experience that guests expect.
Reduces phone and email enquiries, because guests can see exactly where they’ll be staying.
Helps reduce allocation issues and disputes, as guests choose their own location with full visibility.
If a guest doesn’t see a map when booking, it simply means the property hasn’t enabled the Interactive Map for their online bookings yet.
How to Get an Interactive Map for Your Property
There are two types of requests:
New Interactive Map
You do not currently have an Interactive Map and would like one created.
Update to an Existing Interactive Map
You already have an Interactive Map but need changes made, such as:
- Adding new areas
- Renumbering or renaming areas
- Layout or configuration changes
To request a new Interactive Map or an update to an existing one, simply Log a Support Ticket with your request.
Once your ticket is received, our team will contact you to discuss your requirements and next steps.
Removing an Interactive Map
Deleting an existing online Interactive Maps can be actioned by Users at the Property, that have the required Security Profile access.
Preparation Requirements (All Requests)
To ensure your request can be processed efficiently, all requests should include the following:
-
A property layout overlay
- This can be an image, hand‑drawn diagram, or an existing map
- It must clearly show all areas included in the request
-
Clear area identification
- Each area must be clearly labelled (using numbers or letters, depending on the request type – see below)
-
Request type specified
- New Interactive Map
- Update to Existing Interactive Map
-
Details of any new categories being added, including:
- Category name
- Category ID
If no Guest Description exists, the Area Description will be displayed.
Area\Guest Descriptions are limited to 7 characters on the map, but the full description will display as expected in the Booking Engine cart, confirmation pages, and confirmation email.
Additional Requirements for Map Updates
If you are requesting updates to an existing map:
- The overlay must be clearly labelled
- A written list of changes must be provided
This approach ensures changes are implemented accurately and efficiently.
