Stop Sells closes availability and prevents reservations from being made for the selected dates. A Stop Sell can be applied to a particular Rate Type and/or Channel.
Overview
The Stop Sell view on the Rate Manager Chart enables viewing and managing Stop Sells for connected Channels.
Selecting 'House Use' when creating a Stop Sell will prevent any user in RMS from creating a reservation for the selected dates, even if there is available inventory.
Use the Control Panel to apply a Stop Sell to multiple Categories, Channels or Rate Types across a date range at the same time.
The checkbox in the primary row of a listed Category, Channel or Rate Type is to quickly apply a Stop Sell to all sub-items under the expanded row and will not indicate if a Stop Sell is actively applied within that section.
To view Stop Sells for any Category, Channel or Rate Type, expand the rows to view individual sections.
Guide
In the side menu of RMS, go to Charts > Rate Manager.
- Select a View.
- Select a Date.
- Select the Display option 'Stop Sell'.
- Expand a Category, Channel or Rate Type row using the '+'.
- Select the checkbox for the Category, Channel or Rate Type to apply the Stop Sell.
Select the checkbox in the primary row of any Category, Channel or Rate Type to quickly apply the Stop Sell to all items in the expanded view.
To quickly release a Stop Sell, untick the checkbox for any Category, Channel or Rate Type.
Troubleshooting Stop Sells Not Reflecting on a Channel
If a Stop Sell applied in RMS is not appearing on a connected Online Travel Agent (OTA) channel, or if a channel continues to accept bookings for dates that should be closed, follow these steps to diagnose the issue.
- Confirm the Stop Sell is applied to the correct Channel - Stop Sells can be applied to specific Channels, Rate Types, and Categories. Expand the rows in the Stop Sell view on the Rate Manager to verify the Stop Sell is applied to the affected channel and not just to "House Use" or a different channel.
- Check the scope of the Stop Sell - A Stop Sell applied only to a specific Rate Type will not close availability for other Rate Types mapped to the same channel. To close all availability on a channel for the selected dates, apply the Stop Sell to all mapped Rate Types or use the primary row checkbox to apply to all sub-items.
- Perform a Manual OTA Resync - Stop Sell changes are normally pushed automatically, but if the channel is not reflecting the closure, perform a Manual OTA Resync for the affected channel, Category, and date range.
- Review the Channel Log - Check the Channel Log in Setup > Online Bookings > Channel Management for errors or failed updates related to the Stop Sell.
- Check the channel extranet - Log in to the channel's extranet portal to verify the availability is closed for the affected dates. If the extranet shows the dates as closed but the guest-facing pages still allow bookings, contact the channel directly as this is a caching issue on their side.
- Verify the channel supports Stop Sell - Most major channels support Stop Sell, but some smaller or custom integrations may not. Check the Channel Restriction Support Matrix for channel-specific restriction support.
