Dwelling Length is a Lookup Table that can be used to determine compatible Areas for set dwelling lengths.
Overview
Dwellings are portable habitats, including caravans, camper vans, motor homes, and tents.
Dwelling Lengths can be assigned to an Area or a Category.
Areas in a Category with the Category Classification of 'Site' can have Dwelling Type, Dwelling Length and Dwelling Slide options assigned to simplify Area Allocation when creating a reservation with a particular dwelling.
Dwelling Type and Dwelling Length are available to both Guest and Reservation Details.
If saved against Guest Details, when a reservation is made, the Dwelling Type and Dwelling Length will copy over to the Reservation Details. This can be overridden on the Reservation Details if required, and it will not affect the Guest information.
These fields can be shown, hidden and moved via Field Maintenance.
If Dwelling Type and Dwelling Length are selected to show in the Reservation Details, they will also show in the Quick Quote Screen.
Dwelling Type filtering is available on the Availability and Booking Charts via the Attributes feature.
Dwelling Lengths are also used by the RMS Booking Engine. Selecting 'Show in RMS Online' on the Dwelling Length makes it available to guests as a filter when they search for a site online, so they only book a site their dwelling fits on.
Guests filter by length on the category page rather than before they search, and sites that fall outside the selected length are moved to a separate group instead of being hidden. Each category card also shows its Category Class.

This Dwelling Length can now be allocated to an Area or Category to indicate that Area or Category can accommodate Dwellings of this length.
Dwelling Length on the RMS Booking Engine
Dwelling Length is one of the two dimensions a guest can filter by on the RMS Booking Engine category page, alongside Dwelling Type.
Making a Dwelling Length available online
A Dwelling Length is offered to guests online only when 'Show in RMS Online' is selected on the Dwelling Length record. The Dwelling Length also needs to be assigned to the Categories and Areas that can accommodate it, using Category Dwelling Options and Area Dwelling Options.
Filtering by length on the category page
Guests begin their search with dates and guest numbers. They then filter on the category page, where a length filter and a dwelling type filter are available. Both appear when the guest is viewing all results or has selected the Site Category Class, and are hidden on Accommodation, which has no dwelling dimensions. The names of these filters are read from System Labels in RMS, so they match the terminology the property uses.
Sites that fall outside the selected length
A site that has availability but cannot take the selected length is no longer removed from the results. It moves to a separate group between the available and unavailable categories, with a message that explains why it does not match (for example, that the site is too small) and no booking button. Clearing the length filter returns those sites to the main available group.
Dwelling Length and the category card
Each category card carries a maximum of two displays: its Category Class label on every card, and on Site cards the dwelling type the guest has selected. The selected Dwelling Length is not shown. It acts as a filter over the results and, where a site does not fit, drives the badge described above.
Please Note! Where Dwelling Length or Dwelling Type is set as mandatory in Online Options Page Settings, guests are no longer stopped from browsing. They are asked for both details when they select 'Book now', and cannot continue until both are entered. Those details then carry through to the rest of the booking.
