How to include an Area in statistical reporting in RMS, and where the Statistics setting is used.

Overview

An Area is the physical space available for a Reservation within a Category.

All physical Areas setup in RMS, excluding Interconnecting Master Areas, should be set to include in Statistics unless there is an operational requirement to exclude the Area eg. permanent staff accommodation.

Excluding an Area from statistics will ignore any Reservation in that Area when calculating statistics on reports unless the option 'Ignore Statistics' is selected on the report.

Including an Area in statistics will include any Reservation in that Area for statistics calculated on reports, such as the Night Audit Report, Occupancy Report and Marketing Report.

The Statistics setting also controls the 'Stats' filter on the Availability Chart. 'Stats On' displays only Areas with 'Statistics' selected, 'Stats Off' displays only Areas with 'Statistics' deselected, and 'Ignore Stats' displays every Area. A Category where every Area is excluded from statistics is not listed on the Availability Chart under 'Stats On'.

Important! Modifying the Statistics configuration will impact historical Operational Revenue reports and related statistics.

Guide

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Category/Area.

1. Select 'Edit' on an existing Category.
   
    
2. Navigate to the 'Area' tab.
3. Select an Area.
4. Select 'Edit'.
   
    
5. Select 'Statistics'.

6. Select 'Save/Exit'.
