This article explains how to set up Allotments via the Control Panel to allocate inventory to connected channels, and confirms how Control Panel Allotments combine with existing allotments.
Information
Allotments allocate inventory available to a connected channel for the selected Rate Types. Most channels use category-level allotments, which means they reference the lowest available allotment across all associated Rate Types. Connected channels can be set up to use Default Allotments, Channel Allotments, or have access to Full Availability.
When allotments are not applied consistently across all Rate Types linked to a channel, the channel may receive limited availability. To ensure accurate inventory distribution, apply allotments uniformly across all linked Rate Types.
Allotments added through the Control Panel add to any existing allotment for the same date range, channel, category, and Rate Type. They do not override existing allotments, and the Control Panel cannot be used to reduce an allotment. To decrease an allotment, edit the source allotment directly, for example the Default Allotment, Travel Agent profile, or Group Allotment.
The following options are available to determine when an Allotment comes into effect.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Date Range | Apply the inventory allotment for a single date range, multiple date ranges or permanently. |
| Day of the Week | Apply the inventory allotment for set days of the week within the date range. |
| Occupancy | Set an occupancy benchmark that will prompt the inventory allotment to come into effect once reached. Occupancy will be determined using the Occupancy Calculation Rule for the Property. |
| X Nights from Today | Set an inventory allotment with a lead time that rolls forward by the entered number of days. This option will set the allotment to always start the entered number of days ahead of the current date. |
Guide
In the Side Menu of RMS, go to Charts > Rate Manager.
- Select the 'Control Panel' icon.
- Select the 'Add' icon.
- Optional: Select a Property.
- Select the Restriction Type as 'Allotments'.

Click 'Next'.
★ Tip: Select theicon to set a Restriction Type as a favourite.
- Select a 'Date Range' or select the checkbox 'Set Permanently'.
Select the 'Add +' icon to add Multiple Date Ranges - Optional: Select the checkbox for Days of the Week.
- Enter the 'Allotment'.

Optional: Enter an Occupancy benchmark.
- Please Note: Occupancy-based restrictions use your existing occupancy configuration. For more details, see Occupancy Calculation Rule.
- Optional: Enter an Allotment Lead Time.
- Select the checkbox for a Connected Channel.
- Click 'Next'.
- Select the checkbox for a Category.
- Click 'Next'.
- Select the checkbox for a Rate Type.
- Click 'Save\Exit'.
