This article describes the Switzerland Police Export, which generates a file containing foreign guest registration data for submission to Swiss cantonal police authorities.
Overview
The Switzerland Police Export is a compliance tool for accommodation properties in Switzerland that are required by law to register foreign guests with the cantonal police (Kantonspolizei).
The export produces a structured file in XML or CSV format containing guest registration details for the selected property.
The file is intended for submission to the relevant cantonal authority through the SIDAP police information system or equivalent reporting channel.
Use Cases
- Routine compliance reporting - Run the export regularly to generate the required guest registration file for submission to the cantonal police, meeting Swiss legal obligations for foreign guest registration.
- Audit and record-keeping - Use the export to maintain a local archive of submitted registration files, supporting internal audits or requests from authorities to verify historical registration data.
- Multi-property operations - On multi-property databases, select one property at a time to generate a separate registration file per property, ensuring each submission is correctly attributed to the right accommodation.
