Dwelling Type is a Lookup Table that can be used to determine compatible Areas for a type of dwelling.

Overview

Dwellings are portable habitats including caravans, camper vans, motor homes, RVs and tents.

Areas in a Category with the Category Classification of 'Site' can have Dwelling Type, Dwelling Length and Dwelling Slide options assigned to simplify Area Allocation when creating a reservation with a particular dwelling.

Dwelling Type can be linked to a Grouping, and the maximum number of this Dwelling Type allowed at the Property at any time can be set.

Dwelling Type and Dwelling Length are available to both Guest and Reservation Details. If saved against Guest Details, when a reservation is made, the Dwelling Type and Dwelling Length will copy over to the Reservation Details. This can be overridden on the Reservation Details if required, and it will no affect the Guest information.

These fields can be shown, hidden, and moved via Field Maintenance.  
If the Dwelling Type and Dwelling Length fields are selected to show in the Reservation Details, they will also show in the Quick Quote Screen.

Dwelling Type filtering is available on the Availability and Booking Charts via the Attributes feature.

Dwelling Types are also used by the RMS Booking Engine. Selecting 'Show in RMS Online' on the Dwelling Type makes it available to guests as a filter when they search for a site online.

The Booking Engine also shows the dwelling type a guest has selected on each Site category card, alongside the Category Class. This confirms to the guest what type of site they are looking at and that their selection has been applied.

Dwelling Type Setup Guide

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Lookup Tables > Dwelling Type.

1. Select Add.
   
    
2. Enter the Dwelling Type.
   (Optional) Select a 'Grouping'.
   (Optional) Select the checkbox 'Show in RMS Online'.
3. Select Save/Exit.
   

This Dwelling Type can now be allocated to an Area or Category to indicate that Area or Category can accommodate Dwellings of this type.

Grouping Setup Guide

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Lookup Tables > Grouping.

1. Select Add.
   
    
2. Select 'Dwelling Type' in 'Heading For' dropdown.
3. Enter the Heading.
   (Optional) Click Add to enter a Maximum of this Dwelling Type allowed.
4. Select Save/Exit.
   
    

Dwelling Type on the RMS Booking Engine

Dwelling Types control how guests filter for a compatible site on the RMS Booking Engine, and what appears on each category card in the search results.

Making a Dwelling Type available online

A Dwelling Type is offered to guests online only when 'Show in RMS Online' is selected on the Dwelling Type record. The Dwelling Type also needs to be assigned to the Categories and Areas that can accommodate it, using Category Dwelling Options and Area Dwelling Options.

Filtering on the category page

Guests begin their search with dates and guest numbers. After searching, they arrive at the category page, where filters let them move between Category Classes and select a dwelling type and length. The names of these filters are read from System Labels in RMS, so they match the terminology the property uses. Category Class filters appear only when the property has two or more Category Classes available online.

Category card display

Each category card shows up to two displays. Every card shows its Category Class label. Site cards also show the dwelling type the guest has selected in the filter.

The dwelling type display updates as the guest changes their selection, without reloading the page, and is removed when the guest clears the selection.

The Category Class display uses the label the property has configured in RMS, so a Category Class of 'Site' can appear to guests as 'Powered Sites', 'Villas' or any other label the property uses.
