Add an Upgrade Offer to a Category in RMS.
Overview
An Upgrade Offer uses validation criteria to determine if a Reservation qualifies for an upgrade to a higher value Category on the day of arrival. Validation criteria include the Category and Rate Type selected on the Reservation, the Reservation Stay Dates and the Property Occupancy.
The Upgrade Offer appears on the Reservation on the Arrive Date if the validation criteria are met and an Area is available for all Reservation Stay Dates in the upgrade Category.
Accepting the Upgrade Offer sets the Bill Category to the originally booked Category, allocates an available Area in the upgrade Category and creates the Upgrade Fee on the Reservation Account using the Sundry Charge and Rate Calculation configured on the Upgrade Offer.
The Rate Amount uses the Bill Category with the Upgrade Fee added separately. Calculations for the Upgrade Fee do not include Additionals or Packages.
Prerequisites
- A Sundry Charge with the 'Area Upgrade' checkbox selected is required to apply an Upgrade Fee. When both a flat amount and a percentage are entered, the higher value applies. Percentage calculations do not include Additionals or Packages.
Guide
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Category/Area.
- Select Edit on an existing Category.
- Navigate to the Upgrade tab.
- Select Add.
- Enter an Occupancy Range.
- Select the checkbox for the Rate Type.
- Select a Valid Period.
- Select the Date Range.
- Select the Upgrade Category.
- Select the Rate Calculation.
- Enter the Upgrade Fee Amount or Percentage.
- Select the Upgrade Sundry Charge.
- Enter the Upgrade Offer Script.
(Optional) Select the 'Day of Arrival' checkbox. - Select Save/Exit.
