The OpenKey door lock module enables the creation of digital keys directly from RMS.

Overview

The OpenKey door lock module allows digital keys to be created directly from RMS, providing a seamless and contactless room access experience for guests.

Using the OpenKey mobile app, guests can unlock their room during their stay without the need for a physical key.

Key Features and Requirements

• Digital Key Creation
  Digital and physical keys can be issued from the guest’s reservation in RMS, following the key sequencing rules set by the lock hardware manufacturer.

• Mobile Number Requirement
  The Guest Mobile Number field must be completed to use OpenKey. For international numbers (outside the US or Canada), the phone number must include the appropriate country code.

• Automatic Expiry
  Digital keys automatically expire at the reservation’s original Depart Time in RMS unless extended manually in OpenKey.

• Real-Time Updates

  • Changes to the Area or Depart Date on a reservation (after it is marked as 'Arrived') will automatically update the digital key in OpenKey.

  • Reverting a Departed Reservation will generate a new Reservation ID and digital key in OpenKey.

• Guest Self-Service
  Guests can generate additional digital keys directly from the OpenKey app if needed during their stay.

• System Configuration
  Area Mapping and any Common Areas must be properly configured in the OpenKey system for the integration to function correctly.

Module Activation

In the side menu of RMS, go to the Module Market.

1. Select the Module Type 'Access Control'.
2. Select the Toggle to activate the module.
3. Read the Terms & Conditions.
4. Select 'Activate Door Locks'.
5. Select the 'Configuration' icon.
6. Select the 'Unlock' icon.
7. Enter the Daily Password and choose 'Ok'.
8. Enter the OpenKey Username and Password.
9. Select 'Save/Exit'.

Visual Guide

In the side menu of RMS, go to the Module Market.

Select the Module Type 'Access Control'.

Enter the Daily Password and choose 'Ok'.

Enter the OpenKey Username & Password.

Select 'Save/Exit' to store the changes made and exit the setup in RMS.
