How to change the selected Rate Type on an existing reservation in RMS.
Overview
Changing the Rate Type on a reservation may be necessary for a variety of guest-related or operational reasons. It could be due to a guest qualifying for a different rate after booking—such as a corporate or promo rate - or because they’ve made changes to their stay dates or Category that affect pricing.
Operationally, the original rate plan might have been applied incorrectly or may no longer be valid for the new reservation details. Overall, adjusting the Rate Type ensures the reservation remains accurate, aligned with the guest’s needs, and consistent with property policies.
Guide
Open the Reservation in RMS.
- Highlight the existing Rate Type field and press ‘Backspace’ to clear the selection.
- Select the new Rate Type.
- Select Save/Exit.
When a new Rate Type is selected that includes a deposit requirement, and no deposit has been paid on the reservation, the Reservation Status will automatically update to 'Unconfirmed'.
For Users with the 'Hide Confirmation Messages' option enabled in their Security Profile, the Rate Recalculation will default to 'Yes' without prompting.
Additionally, no Rate Recalculation message will be displayed for any User if the rate amount has been manually overridden, regardless of other settings.
