How to complete Area Mapping for Online Travel Agents in RMS.
Overview
The RMS Channel Manager connects seamlessly with various Online Travel Agents (OTAs), Booking Engines, Distributors, and Global Distribution Systems (GDS).
Mapping of a Category and Rate combination determines the prices and inventory availability used by the connected channel.
There are two methods of mapping used in the RMS Channel Manager, determined by the channel connection selected.
A Property setup to use an Alternate Currency can select the currency Rates to be provided to the channel.
The 'Use Source Travel Agent' option is available for Distributors and Third Party connections to include the origin of the Reservation instead of the channel connection as the Travel Agent on the Reservation.
Each Channel Connection determines the type of information accepted, including Availability, Rate, and Control Panel Restrictions.

This article covers Channel Manager mapping at the area level (which RMS area maps to which retail-website category and rate type). For applying RMS rates at the area level, see Rate Lookup and the Scoping a Rate Lookup to an Area section. Channel mapping and rate scoping are separate configurations: channel mapping controls what RMS sends to the OTA; Rate Lookup controls the rate applied inside RMS.
