The Promo Code on the RMS Booking Engine allows a guest to search for availability and make a reservation using a Discount or hidden Rate Type. In addition to this, the Promo Code allows guests to search for availability to book from a Group Allotment.

Important! Some Discounts may be Overriden or made Unavailable due to the RMS Booking Engines Discount Hierarchy.

Enabling the Promo Code Field

1. Go to Setup > Online Bookings > Online Options.
2. Navigate to the 'Page Settings' tab.
3. Select the Property.
4. Select the 'Show Promotion Code' checkbox.
5. Select 'Save/Exit'.
    

6. The 'Promotional/Group Code' field will now be displayed on the search page of the Booking Engine.

Using a Discount as a Promo Code

Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Discounts.

1. Add or Edit a Discount.
    
2. Check the option 'Use as RMS Online Promotion'

Important! The Discount Name of the Promo Code and is case-sensitive

Tip! Discount options will vary based on the Discount Type selected.

3. When the Discount Name is entered as a Promo Code on the RMS Booking Engine
4. The Discount is applied to the applicable Rates and the Rate is adjusted accordingly. 
   

Tip! The Discounts Report helps track RMS Booking Engine promotion activity, providing insights into usage and impact.

Using a Hidden Rate Type as a Promo Code

All Rate Types created in RMS can also be used as a Promo Code. 

In the Channel Manager, for the RMS Book Now Button, any rates set to 'Access Allowed' will show on the RMS Booking Engine, and Rates that are set to 'No Access' are hidden. 

But, by entering the Rate Type Description into the Promo Code field on the Booking Engine, the Hidden/No Access Rate Type is displayed as the Only Rate Type available to the booker.   

1. A Rate or Derived Rate Types Description field can be used as a Promo Code. 
2. Optional: If you don't want this rate type to be used as a Promo Code, select 'Do Not Use As a Promo Code'.
    
3. In the Channel Manager Setup for the RMS Book Now Button, under Available Rate Types
4. The Rate Type that you wish to use as a Promo Code
5. Should be in the 'No Access' column.
    
6. Now, when the Rate Type is used as a Promo Code on the RMS Booking Engine,
7. The Promotional Rate Type is the Only rate type that is displayed.
