How to Configure MFI for Third-Party Integration in RMS.
Overview
The Multi-Function Interface (MFI) Cloud Processor is an RMS application that facilitates communication between third-party programs and the RMS database.
In this article, the following terms all refer to the same application:
Multi-Function Interface (MFI) Cloud Processor
RMS Cloud MFI Processor
RMS MFI Processor
The MFI Cloud Processor is used when a third-party application needs to:
Read or write data to the RMS database, and
Maintain a local connection on the same Windows computer as the third-party software.
Enterprise customers will be required to set up the MFI per property, using the applicable third‑party application with RMS.
Examples of applicable third-party applications include:
Local Point of Sale (POS) systems
Door lock or access control systems installed onsite
Wi‑Fi / Internet management platforms
Other on‑premise software that needs to exchange data with RMS via MFI
The Multi Function Interface (MFI) is not compatible with Mac/iOS operating systems. The Multi Function Interface (MFI) must be installed locally on the same Windows computer as the third-party software and kept running.
Module Market Activation
Activate the MFI Cloud Processor module for the property.
- Navigate to the Module Market.
Search for 'MFI'.
Select the Active Toggle icon on 'MFI Cloud Processor'.
- Select the Property.
- Read the Terms & Conditions.
Select the 'Activate MFI Cloud Processor' button.
Webservices Password
The Webservices Password is a secure passcode that allows authenticated services (like the MFI Cloud Processor) to read or write information to your property’s RMS database.
It is:
Unique to each property, and
Only available by logging a Support Ticket with RMS.
For more information, see: Webservices Password

Connecting the Multi-Function Interface (MFI) Cloud Processor
After installation, the RMS MFI Processor will launch.
Select 'Yes' to configure the application.
- Enter the Property's RMS Client ID.
Enterprise customers must use the individual Property's RMS Client ID and not the Enterprise RMS Client ID when configuring the MFI.
The property's RMS Client ID can be found within the Property Information section of RMS.
- Enter the Webservice Password.
The Webservice Password is provided by RMS Customer Support as part of the MFI installation service ticket.
- Select the 'Connect' button.
Set up the third‑party interface on this machine according to the integration guide for that specific third‑party application.
Enterprise Customers
Enterprise customers must configure the MFI for each property that will use a local third‑party integration.
Activate the MFI Cloud Processor for each property in the Module Market.
-
Open a service ticket including:
The Property Name and Client ID for each property, and
The third‑party application name and a brief description of the integration.
• Cloud‑to‑cloud integrations may use other integration methods (for example, direct API or RMS‑hosted integrations). • If you are unsure whether a third‑party application requires MFI, include the application name and brief description when logging your service ticket so RMS can confirm the correct approach.
