This guide explains how to uninstall your current RMS MFI Processor and install the latest version on your Windows computer.
The RMS MFI Processor (Multi Function Interface) is the Windows application that connects RMS to systems at your property, such as door locks, boomgates, phone systems (PABX), and Point of Sale (POS). RMS has released a new version of the RMS MFI Processor, version 4.1.4.1, and every property that uses the MFI needs to replace its current version with the new one.
The upgrade has five steps: check that the MFI Cloud Processor is activated in the Module Market, record your current MFI settings, uninstall the current version, install the new version on the same computer, and check that it is working.
Important! RMS will never send you the RMS MFI Processor by WhatsApp, text message, or an unexpected phone call.
Please Note! RMS is highly configurable. Some Terminology, User Access & Permissions, Images, Labels, and Functions used in these articles may differ from your setup. CLICK HERE to find out more.
Before You Start the Upgrade
- A Windows computer running Windows 10 (version 21H2) or later, including Windows 11, or Windows Server 2022 or later. You cannot install the RMS MFI Processor on an Apple (Mac) computer.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.1 installed on the computer.

- Access to the Module Market. Only System Administrators and the Manager Security Profile can open the Module Market.

- Select the toggle on MFI Cloud Processor.
-
- Check that your property is listed under Select the Properties to Associate.

Recording your current settings lets you check them after you install the new RMS MFI Processor. Complete these steps on the computer where the RMS MFI Processor is installed.
- Double-click the RMS MFI Processor icon in the Windows system tray, at the bottom right of the screen.
-
- Select Setup > Configuration.

- Take a screenshot or a photo of every other tab that has settings, such as Door Locks or Comtrol Settings.
- Select Exit to close the RMS MFI Configuration window.
-
- In the RMS MFI Processor window, select File > Exit.
- Select Yes to close the RMS MFI Processor.
-
Tip! If you cannot see the RMS MFI Processor icon, select the up arrow in the system tray to show hidden icons. To take a screenshot, press the Windows logo key + Shift + S.

Please Note! If Windows asks whether to allow the app to make changes to your device, select Yes. Enterprise properties must install the new RMS MFI Processor on the computer used by each property that uses the MFI.
Step 5: Check the New RMS MFI Processor Is Working
The RMS MFI Processor opens when the installation finishes. Check that it is running and that your settings are correct.
- Check that the window title shows RMS MFI Processor - Running and that no messages show in red.
- Check that Version, at the bottom of the window, shows 4.1.4.1.
-
- Select Setup > Configuration.
- Compare each tab with your screenshots from Step 2 and change any setting that does not match your screenshot.
- Select Save.
- Test each system that uses the MFI, for example by cutting a key card.
If the RMS Client No or Webservice Password Is Empty
If the RMS Client No or RMS Webservice Password did not carry over from your previous version, enter them again on the General tab of the RMS MFI Configuration window.
- Select Setup > Configuration.
- In RMS Client No, enter your property's RMS Client ID, shown in the Property Information section of RMS.
- In RMS Webservice Password, enter your property's Webservice Password.
- Select Connect.
- Select Save.
-
Please Note! The Webservice Password is only available from RMS Support, so contact RMS Support to ask for it. Enterprise properties must use each individual property's RMS Client ID, not the Enterprise RMS Client ID.
