Overview
A Payment Schedule allows you to set up structured payments for a reservation. Instead of collecting everything at check-in, you can take deposits or installments before arrival.
This helps reduce no-shows, spread out guest costs, and streamline staff processes.
Hierarchy
Payment Schedule Templates in RMS can be assigned to various functions.
When multiple templates are associated with a reservation, RMS applies a hierarchy to determine which template is used.
| Reservation | ||||||||||
| Rate Type Property Rule | ||||||||||
| Rate Type | ||||||||||
| Rate Table | ||||||||||
| Derived Rate Type Property Rule | ||||||||||
| Derived Rate Type | ||||||||||
Change of Payment Schedule
RMS may update a Payment Schedule when there are changes to a reservation that cause the rate to be recalculated. The change may mean that there is a new Rule that is higher or lower in the hierarchy.
If this is the case, one of the following actions will occur:
New Payment Schedule Overrides Existing Payment Schedule
If a reservation with an existing payment schedule is changed and a new payment schedule is applied, the new payment schedule will override the existing one.
New Rule Without Payment Schedule > Existing Payment Schedule
If a reservation has a Payment Schedule in place, and the reservation changes to a rule that does not include a Payment Schedule, the existing Payment Schedule remains active.
If you would like to remove the existing Payment Schedule, you will need to do this manually on the reservation.
New Rule With Payment Schedule > No Payment Schedule
If a reservation does not have a Payment Schedule, and the reservation changes to a rule that does include a Payment Schedule, the new Payment Schedule will be applied and actioned.
