Overview
IP addresses are unique numerical identifiers assigned to each device on a network with internet access. In RMS, you can restrict logins to specific IP addresses, adding an extra layer of security by ensuring Users can only access the system from approved networks.
Key Information
Restricting IP addresses controls which networks users must be connected to in order to log in to RMS.
For maximum security, once IP restrictions are activated, they cannot be disabled.
-
This feature requires static IP addresses.
A static IP address remains constant and does not change over time.
Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance with setting up static IPs on your network.
Setup
Tip: Ensure all necessary static IP addresses are added before enabling the restriction to avoid being locked out of RMS.
- Navigate to Setup > Security.
- Go to the Restricted IP Address Access tab.
- Click Add.
- Enter a Description for the IP address (e.g., Office Network).
- Enter the IP Address Range.
- Click Save & Exit.
- Repeat these steps for each IP address that needs to be added.
- Once all required IP addresses have been entered, check the box for Use Restricted IP Addresses.
- Click Save.
Setup Tips
- Click ‘Use Current IP’ to automatically populate the IP address of the device you're currently using.
- Click the ‘User’ icon to view the IP address of the device the user is logged in on.
- IP address restrictions will take immediate effect once you click ‘Save’ in the Security Setup.
If a User attempts to log in from a device with an IP address not included in the approved list, they will receive a warning message and be prevented from accessing RMS.
