Information on using the Channel (OTA) Performance report in RMS, and the data it reports on.
Overview
The Channel Performance report shows how each online channel (OTA) is performing for your property over a selected date range.
Use this report to monitor channel mix, evaluate the impact of new or changed connections, and support decisions about where to focus your distribution and marketing efforts.
Why use the Channel Performance report?
The Channel Performance report helps you:
-
Compare channels side-by-side
See which channels are driving the most reservations and revenue. -
Measure booking quality, not just volume
Assess stay value via revenue, length of stay and average daily rate (ADR), not only number of bookings. -
Monitor channel shift over time
Track if you are successfully moving business from high-commission OTAs to your preferred or direct channels. -
Support revenue and marketing decisions
Use real booking data to:- Decide which channels to promote or de-emphasise.
- Negotiate commissions or marketing packages with OTAs.
- Evaluate the impact of new connections, campaigns, or price changes.
-
Audit channel mappings and integrations
If bookings are missing or under-reported for a channel, the report can highlight mapping or configuration issues that need attention.
Important behaviour
Before relying on Channel Performance for decision-making, please note the following:
Channel / agent bookings
The report displays reservations created by:
- Online agents linked to your Channel Manager or RMS Online
- Channels using source travel agent (e.g. some SiteMinder connections)
- REST API agents (where supported)
Bookings made manually by staff, or through offline agents without a recognised online/channel flag, will not appear.
Report Date Range
On the build screen you can choose the date range as:
- Reservation Made Between - the date the reservation was created.
- Reservation Arriving Between - the guest's arrival date.
- Reservation In House Between - any night the guest is in house within the selected range.
Channel mapping
The report relies on:
- Correct channel / online agent mapping in your Channel Manager setup.
- Consistent use of online agent codes or REST API agents for your own website.
- The "Use RMS Online Agent Code" option (where applicable) to normalise agent/channel codes.
If a booking is attached to an unexpected agent or user, it may appear under the wrong channel or be missing from your filter selection.
Large Enterprises databases
For group enterprises with many properties, categories and agents:
- Very broad date ranges + "All properties" + "All categories" + many channels can create large reports.
- Consider filtering by specific date periods, properties or channels first to improve performance and readability.
