Use of the Auto Anonymise option for GDPR in RMS.
Overview
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in European Union (EU) law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the EU. GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act of 1998 and aims to simplify the regulatory environment by unifying regulation within the EU.
GDPR imposes regulations for organisations that engage with individuals in the EU, expanding the rights of individuals with respect to the processing of their personal data and mandating security measures surrounding this.
RMS can anonymize Guest Profiles, which removes or obscures personal details such as name, contact information, and address.
Once a guest record has been anonymized, reports for past reservations will no longer display personal information such as name, contact details, or identifying data.
However, key metrics like revenue, occupancy, and reservation details will remain visible to support operational and financial reporting.
Guide
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > General Information.
- Navigate to the 'GDPR' tab.
- Select 'Auto Anonymize'.
- Enter number of days to retain guest details.
- Select 'Save/Exit'.
