Information on connecting RMS with TripAdvisor TripConnect, how the connection appears on TripAdvisor, how to verify it is working, and how to report on TripAdvisor revenue.
Overview
TripConnect is a suite of tools from TripAdvisor that helps Properties drive direct bookings, by connecting their rates and availability to potential guests searching on TripAdvisor. Once connected, the Property's live rates from RMS appear in the TripAdvisor price comparison module on the Property's listing alongside Online Travel Agents (OTAs), and guests who select the Property's direct rate are sent through to the RMS Booking Engine to complete the booking.
Set Up TripConnect
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- Setup the RMS Booking Engine for the Property.
- Setup Category Long Descriptions.
- The Property's TripAdvisor ID, obtained from TripAdvisor.
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information.
- Select 'Edit' on an existing Property.
-
- Select 'Online' in the left-hand menu of the Edit window.
- Enter the Property's TripAdvisor ID in the Trip Advisor Id field (under the Trip Advisor/NPS heading).
- Select 'Save/Exit'.
-
- Sign up for TripConnect on the TripAdvisor side.
How This Looks on TripAdvisor
Once TripConnect is active, guests searching for the Property on TripAdvisor will see the Property's direct rate from RMS displayed in the price comparison module on the Property's TripAdvisor listing page. This module sits alongside rates from Online Travel Agents (OTAs) such as Booking.com and Expedia and gives guests the option to book directly with the Property.
What guests see on TripAdvisor:
- The Property's direct nightly rate, pulled live from RMS, shown next to the OTA rates for the same dates.
- A direct-booking option against the direct rate. Selecting it takes the guest to the RMS Booking Engine with the search dates pre-filled, where the guest completes their booking. TripAdvisor identifies RMS as the Property's connectivity partner in its TripConnect flow.
- Rates and availability update automatically as they change in RMS.
Reporting on TripAdvisor Revenue
TripConnect bookings complete in the RMS Booking Engine and are attributed in RMS to a Travel Agent record named TripAdvisor. This means TripAdvisor revenue can be isolated using the Property's existing Travel Agent and Channel reports. No new report needs to be built.
| Report | What It Shows | How to Filter for TripAdvisor |
|---|---|---|
| Booking By Travel Agent Report | Reservation volume and revenue grouped by Travel Agent over a selected date range. | Set the Travel Agent filter to TripAdvisor for a TripAdvisor-only revenue view. |
| Channel Performance Report | Channel-level performance, including ADR, revenue, and room nights by channel. | Read the row for the TripAdvisor / TripConnect channel. |
| Channel Category Comparison Report | Compares each channel's contribution by Category. | Review TripAdvisor's Category mix alongside other channels. |
