How to complete a complimentary Guest upgrade.
Overview
At times, a Property may opt to offer a Guest a complimentary upgrade.
This can occur when lower-tier Categories are overbooked, or when higher-tier Categories are available and the property wishes to create availability in more budget-friendly categories or for a Guest special occasion.
When processing a reservation upgrade in RMS, Users can set the Bill Category to reflect the original Category that was booked, then update the assigned Category and Area to reflect the upgrade.
This ensures that the Bill Category - not the upgraded category - is used to calculate rates, preserving the original pricing while accommodating the guest in a higher-tier category.

Guide
Open the Reservation in RMS.
- Set the Bill Category to the Category.
- Change the Category on the reservation.
- Assign a new Area.
- Select 'Save\Exit'.
