Preparing to Connect
Before completing mapping and activation in RMS Channel Management, ensure the following:

If no matching Travel Agent is found, a new Travel Agent record is created.
Guest Portal Access (Optional)
-
Hide from Guest Portal will prevent the guest from managing this reservation when logged into the Guest Portal, including:
Use this option if you do not want guests to self‑manage SiteMinder reservations via the Guest Portal.
Rate Type Tax Configuration
Rates are sent using the Rate Type Tax option configured on each mapped Rate Type in RMS (e.g. tax inclusive vs tax exclusive).
Ensure your Rate Type tax settings match the way you want rates to appear on connected channels via SiteMinder.
Deposits for SiteMinder Booking Engine (if used)
Properties using the SiteMinder Booking Engine and accepting deposit payments at the time of booking can use the Allow Deposits option so the deposit Receipt is applied to the Reservation Account in RMS with the reservation delivery.

Footnotes & Terminology
-
Category Occupancy & Oversell Allotments
Category Occupancy means that SiteMinder manages inventory at the Category (Room Type) level, not per Rate Type.
When there is a variation in Availability for each Rate Type mapped on the same Category in RMS, SiteMinder will use the lowest Availability number for that Category.
Oversell Allotments allow you to sell above your physical inventory (intentionally overbook) for a Category/Rate Type combination.
For oversell to be applied correctly via SiteMinder, Oversell Allotments must be set on all Category & Rate Type combinations mapped to SiteMinderfrdc.
-
MLOS, Soft Close & ETA
MLOS (Minimum Length of Stay) is a restriction that requires reservations to be at least a specified number of nights (On Arrival or Any Day within Stay, depending on setup).
Soft Close (Minimum Nights – Any Day Within Stay) requires a minimum number of nights if any date within the stay period is restricted.
ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) is the expected arrival time of the guest, as provided in the SiteMinder reservation and stored on the Reservation in RMS.
-
Companies – name matching behaviour
The SiteMinder connection matches the Company Name on incoming reservations to existing Company records in RMS.
Matching is done on the full Company Name string provided by SiteMinder (case-insensitive).
If an exact match is found, RMS links the reservation to that existing Company.
If no exact match is found, a new Company record is created in RMS using the Company Name provided in the reservation.
If you have multiple Companies with similar names, only the one with an exact name match will be used; to avoid confusion, ensure Company Names in RMS match what is sent from your connected channels.
Mapping Multiple Accounts
When setting up a connection to SiteMinder HTNG, users can configure multiple SiteMinder accounts while mapping by Property (Category level).
This is done in the Channel Management – Channel Mapping screen in RMS:
In RMS, go to Setup > Online Bookings > Channel Management.
Change Channel Connection Status from Connected to All.
Double‑click 'SiteMinder HTNG' to open the channel setup screen.
-
In the Channel Mapping screen, complete the Connection Information section:
Hotel Code = SiteMinder Hotel Code
Chain Code = APAC or EMEA (as provided by SiteMinder)
-
When multi‑account is supported and configured:
You can set up Connection Information for multiple SiteMinder accounts for each SiteMinder HTNG channel while mapping by Property (Category).
Use the Account Label field (mandatory) to give each account a unique, descriptive name (e.g. Account 1, Account 2, Motel, Resort).
The Account Label is not communicated to SiteMinder; it is used only in RMS so staff can easily identify and switch between accounts in the Channel Mapping screen.
