A guide on Oversell allotments and how they display on the Availability Chart in RMS.
Overview
Oversell Allotment is a restriction type available in the Control Panel when using Book by Category, and a category is setup to allow overbooking. Overbooking and Oversell Allotments alter the category availability and do not use the physical availability of individual areas to determine if a reservation can be created on any given date.
Oversell Allotments
Category availability shown on the Availability Chart when using Oversell Allotments reflects the remaining number of reservations that could be made in the category for the viewed date. The Oversell Allotment will increase the category availability to the limit set, resulting in an availability number that is higher than the physical area count shown next to the category description.
⚠ Important: Availability shown when using Oversell Allotments is a reflection of the inventory levels set less any existing reservations and is not a count of the remaining physical areas in that category.
This is different to the way category availability is displayed when only using Category Overbooking or Book by Category.
Reservations created in the category will deduct from this increased inventory, counting down to '0'.
When availability reaches zero, this indicates that all available inventory, including any Oversell Allotments have been used for that date. Category availability will be displayed differently if using Oversell Allotments.
