This article explains why charges for extra guests, children or pets that are set up in RMS do not appear in the price on Booking.com, and how to set them up so they do.
The Booking.com connection does not send separate additional charges. In the data RMS exchanges with Booking.com, Additionals Rates and Person Base are not supported. Booking.com receives a rate for each room type and rate plan. When the connection uses Occupancy Based Pricing, that is a rate for each number of guests; when it uses Per-day Pricing, it is one rate per day covering the number of guests in the Rate Table's Person Base, and extra guest prices are not sent. Anything set up in RMS as a separate fee never reaches the price on Booking.com.
Applies to: properties connected to Booking.com through Channel Management.

Quick Checks
Run through these first.
- Check the Pricing Model on the Booking.com connection. Go to Setup > Online Bookings > Channel Management, select Booking.com, select Edit, and look in the Connection Information section. The options are Per-day Pricing, Occupancy Based Pricing and Full Pattern Length of Stay. Extra guest prices are only sent with Occupancy Based Pricing.
- Check the Rate Table used by the Rate Type mapped to Booking.com has prices for additional guests. Go to Charts > Rate Manager, select the Rates icon, select Rate Tables, select the Rate Table, select Edit, then open Additionals.
- Check Max Occupants Per Area on the Category. Go to Setup > Category/Area, select the Category, select Edit, and look in Category Details.
- If the charge is a pet fee or another fee that does not depend on the number of guests, check whether it is set up on Booking.com itself.
Possible Causes
Extra guest prices are set up as a separate charge instead of in the rate
Booking.com only receives the rate. A price for a second, third or fourth guest has to be part of the Rate Table: the Person Base is the number of guests included in the base rate, and the Additionals settings hold the price for each extra guest type. With Occupancy Based Pricing, RMS uses these values to send Booking.com a rate for each occupancy up to the Category's maximum. With Per-day Pricing, RMS sends only the base rate.
For example, a Rate Table with a Person Base of 2 and an additional adult price of 30 gives Booking.com the base rate for 1 and 2 guests and the base rate plus 30 for 3 guests, up to the Max Occupants Per Area set on the Category.
Fix:
- Go to Charts > Rate Manager, select the Rates icon, then Rate Tables.
- Select the Rate Table mapped to Booking.com and select Edit.
- Open Additionals. Check the number of guests included in the base and enter the Additional Guest Prices for each extra guest type. See Rate Table: Additional Guests for each field.
- Select Save/Exit.
- Run a Manual OTA Resync for Booking.com. Changes to the Person Base or the Additional Guests setup on a Rate Table are not pushed automatically.
- Check the room's rates for each occupancy in the Booking.com extranet.
The connection uses Per-day Pricing, so Booking.com only receives one rate per day
Under Per-day Pricing, RMS sends Booking.com a single rate for each date, which covers the number of guests in the Rate Table's Person Base. Booking.com treats it as the price of the room regardless of how many guests are staying, so the additional guest prices in the Rate Table are never sent. Only Occupancy Based Pricing sends a rate for each number of guests.
Fix:
- Go to Setup > Online Bookings > Channel Management, select Booking.com and select Edit.
- In the Connection Information section, note the Pricing Model.
- Contact RMS Support to move the connection to Occupancy Based Pricing. Booking.com must hold the same pricing model for your property, and the change on the Booking.com side is arranged through Support.
- Once both sides use Occupancy Based Pricing, run a Manual OTA Resync for the affected Categories and dates.
Max Occupants Per Area on the Category is lower than the occupancy you want to price
The Max Occupants Per Area set on the Category determines the highest occupancy rate RMS sends to the channel. If the Category allows 2 occupants, Booking.com never receives a price for 3 or 4 guests, whatever the Rate Table says. Booking.com also rejects price changes that do not match the maximum occupancy set for the room on its side.
Fix:
- Go to Setup > Category/Area, select the Category and select Edit.
- In Category Details, check Max Occupants Per Area and correct it if needed, then select Save/Exit.
- In the Booking.com extranet, check the room's maximum occupancy matches.
- If the new occupancy rates do not appear on Booking.com, run a Manual OTA Resync for the Category.
Pet fees or other charges that are not per guest are not set up on Booking.com
The Booking.com connection cannot send a fee line item, so a pet fee set up only in RMS never shows on Booking.com. Charges that Booking.com should display and collect are set up on Booking.com's side. When a booking with one of those charges arrives, RMS needs the charge mapped so it is added to the reservation.
Fix:
- Set the charge up on Booking.com. Contact your Booking.com Account Manager if you need help with this.
- In RMS, go to Setup > Online Bookings > Channel Management, select Booking.com and select Edit.
- Select the Additional Charge Mapping tab and select Add.
- Enter the External Charge Description exactly as it is set up on Booking.com, select the Type of Charge, select the Sundry Charge the fee should post to, then select Save/Exit.
Prevention
When you create or change a Rate Table that is mapped to Booking.com, set the Person Base and the additional guest prices before the rate goes live, and run a Manual OTA Resync afterwards, because those two changes are not pushed automatically. Set up fees that are not per guest, such as pet fees, on Booking.com and map them in Additional Charge Mapping at the same time.
Still Not Working?
If the charge still does not appear after working through the causes above, submit a ticket to RMS Support and include:
- The property name, the Category and the Rate Type mapped to Booking.com.
- The Rate Table's Person Base and additional guest prices.
- The Pricing Model set on the Booking.com connection.
- What Booking.com shows for the room and rate plan for the number of guests concerned.
