How to Activate, Configure, and Use the Salto KS Door Lock interface.
Overview
Salto KS is a product from SALTO Systems that provides a cloud-managed access control platform that issues digital keys, PINs, and tags to users.
Digital keys are delivered to the Salto KS mobile app, while PINs can be generated and retrieved through this integration.
Mobile access: Guests can download the Salto KS mobile app, register, and receive their digital keys, which they can use to tap and open door locks.
PIN access: A PIN is generated and displayed on the key cutting screen, and then shared with the guest.
Information
Static Users
For the Salto KS integration, “Static Users” are non-guest site users that RMS creates per lock/room purely to manage PIN codes for that lock.
They are “Static” because:
They are tied to the lock/area, not to a reservation or a real guest
They exist permanently for each mapped room/door in the property
They are used by RMS to request and refresh PIN codes for that lock via the Salto KS API
These Static Users:
Do not represent a real guest (they’re a technical construct)
Are not deleted at checkout like normal guest users
Allow front office staff to view/reset the PIN for a room, independent of any current reservation
Why Static Users are used as Rooms
RMS adopts the Static User Per Room approach to streamline key management and improve reliability for PIN access. This ensures that each room maintains a consistent and permanent user profile within Salto KS, allowing for faster key assignment, simplified synchronization, and user profile management
Guest Users
Guests will continue to be added as Individual Users in Salto KS to enable digital key access during their stay.
Subscription of users
Each Room will be created as a Static User in Salto KS to facilitate PIN Access:
New Salto KS Customers
You do not need to create static room users in Salto KS manually. During the room mapping process in RMS, RMS will automatically add each room as a Static User in Salto KS.
Existing Salto KS Customers
- If you already have static room users, please remove them to avoid duplication and to help reduce the number of subscribed users in your Salto KS account.
- If you do not currently have static room users, RMS will automatically create them when you complete the Room Mapping process.
