Set up Orto-Mate metering

Orto-Mate allows for the remote monitoring and reading of site power usage, enabling user-pays systems for long-term and short-term stays.  This article details the setup and connection to Orto-Mate in RMS.

 

Install & Configure Orto-Mate

Have your System Administrator complete the following.

  1. Contact KMAC Powerheads and arrange installation on the property's local server.
  2. Confirm access to the Orto-Mate API (https://api.ortomate/meters) using the credentials supplied by a KMAC technician.
  3. Ensure Site Codes in Orto-Mate match Area Descriptions in RMS.

 

Router Configuration

Have your Network Administrator complete the following.

  1. Ensure the Property has a static public IP address supplied by the ISP or a Dynamic DNS Address.
  2. Assign a local static IP address to the Orto-Mate server.
  3. Port Forward through the router to Port 80 on the Orto-Mate server's static IP address.
  4. Confirm access to the Orto-Mate server using the assigned static IP address or dynamic DNS address and /or meters. 
    eg. https://myproperty.dyndns.org/

 

âš  Important:

The above steps should be completed by a technician responsible for supporting the property's hardware, with access to and information on the property's local network. 

Due to the nature of network setup required, RMS Support is unable to assist  with this stage of the configuration.

Enabling Orto-Mate in RMS

Log a Support Ticket and advise of the Orto-Mate Server Address.

  1. Go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information.

  1. Navigate to the Features tab.
  2. Enter the Orto-Mate Server Address.
  3. Enter the Username provided by KMAC.
  4. Enter the Password provided by KMAC.
  5. Select Test to confirm access to the Orto-Mate server.
  6. Select the checkbox User External ID as Reference (Optional).

âš  Important: The connection with Orto-Mate will not become active until RMS has been advised of the Orto-Mate Server Address that will be used.

 

Update Current Meter Read

Complete the steps below once after initial activation of Orto-Mate to update the Meter Reads in RMS to the current Orto-Mate reading.

  1. Go to Setup > Meters > Activation.
  2. Select the Property.
  3. Select the Meter Type - Electricity.

Process Meter Read

  1. Go to Utilities > Meter Processing > Electricity in RMS.
  2. Select View.
  3. Select the Property.
  4. Refresh the view.
  5. The Current Read field will be populated by Orto-Mate on open.
