Overview

Caravan Sitefinder is an online booking channel that can be connected to RMS via the Channel Manager. Once connected, Caravan Sitefinder and RMS exchange availability, rate, restriction, and reservation data automatically.

This article outlines which data is sent and received between Caravan Sitefinder and RMS, and provides a reference for the supported and unsupported functions of the integration.

• Caravan Sitefinder supports single reservations and cancellations, but does not support group reservations or reservation modifications.
• Email confirmations for bookings made through Caravan Sitefinder are sent by Caravan Sitefinder, not by RMS.
• Live availability is limited to 365 Days.

Preparing to Connect

Before completing the Channel Connection in RMS, an API key must be generated in Caravan Sitefinder.

1. Log in to Caravan Sitefinder.

2. Go to Account > API Key.

3. Select 'Generate API Key' and copy the generated key.

You will use this API key in the Connection Information section of the Caravan Sitefinder Channel setup in RMS.
 

Connecting Caravan Sitefinder in RMS

Follow these steps in RMS to connect the Caravan Sitefinder channel using the API key:

1. Navigate to Setup > Online Bookings > Channel Management.

2. Select the Property you want to connect to Caravan Sitefinder.

3. Change the Channel Connection Status filter to 'All' to see all available channels.

4. Double‑click 'Caravan Sitefinder' to open the Channel setup screen.

5. In the Connection Information section:

   • Enter the API Key generated in Caravan Sitefinder into the appropriate API Key/Password field (as labelled on the screen).

   • Complete any other required fields as indicated (for example, Login/Hotel Code/Username if shown for your environment).

6. Select 'Connect' (or the equivalent button) to save the connection information.

7. Go to the Room/Rate Mapping section:

   • Map the relevant RMS Category (Room Type) and Rate Type combinations to the Caravan Sitefinder products you wish to sell.

   • Only mapped Category/Rate combinations will send Availability and Rates to Caravan Sitefinder.

8. Select 'Save/Exit' to complete the mapping.

Once connection information and mapping are complete, RMS will begin sending Availability and Rates to Caravan Sitefinder, and Reservations created on Caravan Sitefinder will be sent to RMS.
