CommWeb Token Creation
As part of recent upgrades to the CommWeb payment gateway, a temporary $1.00 pre-authorisation is now placed on the card whenever a new credit card token is created.
This step helps verify that the card details are valid and can be used safely. It is a routine card verification process used by the Commonwealth Bank (CBA).
The $1.00 is not a real charge, and the cardholder will not be billed. In most cases, the pending amount will automatically disappear from your statement shortly after the verification is completed.
Previously Created Tokens
Credit card tokens created before the CommWeb gateway upgrade may no longer work when processing payments in RMS or via the Guest Portal. Attempting to use one of these older tokens will return a payment error.
To resolve this, the cardholder needs to save their card details again as a new token. Once saved, the new token can be used to process payments as normal. The new token will go through the standard $1.00 pre-authorisation verification described above.
Guest Portal Payments
When guests make payment via the Guest Portal using CommWeb, a card security code (CVV) is required at the time of payment. This applies even when a saved credit card token is already on file.
If a guest's saved token was created before the CommWeb gateway upgrade, they will need to add a new token to complete payment via the Guest Portal.
RMS Configuration
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information.
- Select Edit on an existing Property.
- Navigate to the 'Payment Gateway' tab.
- Select the Toggle 'Ecommerce Online Payment Gateway'.
- Select 'CBA' as the Payment Gateway.
- Enter the Merchant ID (Provided by CommWeb).
- Enter the Merchant Key (Provided by CommWeb).
- Enter the Pre Auth Merchant ID (Provided by CommWeb).
- Enter the Pre Auth Merchant Key (Provided by CommWeb).
Optional: Select the checkbox 'Allow Blind Refunds'. - Select the Pre Authorisation Calculation option.
(Optional) Select the checkbox 'Warn if no Pre-Authorisation on Check-in'. - Select Save/Exit.
Credit Card payments processed in RMS using the CommWeb payment gateway will open a secure payment processing portal external to RMS.
Troubleshooting
Payment error: "A CSC value is required for the transaction"
This error occurs when CommWeb cannot process a payment because a card security code (CVV/CSC) is missing. It is most commonly seen in two situations:
- Old token: The saved credit card token was created before the CommWeb gateway upgrade. Tokens created before the upgrade do not have a security code stored and cannot be used for payment.
- Guest Portal payment: CommWeb requires a card security code when a guest pays via the Guest Portal, even when a saved token is selected.
Resolution:
- Ask the cardholder to save their card details again as a new credit card token.
- Once the new token has been saved, process the payment using the new token.
- Remove the old token from the reservation or guest profile.
