Setup the Tax method for the region in which the Property is located.
Overview
To ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance, configure the Tax Method in line with the regulations of the region where the property is located.
This configuration determines how taxes are calculated and applied to reservations, sundry charges, and other billable items.
Any changes made to this setup will be recorded in the Audit Trail tab.
⚠ Important: Properties should consult their Accountant before any changes are made to the Tax setup, as tax requirements vary by region and operational specifics.
Tax Inclusive vs Tax Exclusive
What is the difference between Tax Inclusive and Tax Exclusive?
Inclusive Taxes mean the price you see is the price you pay, while Exclusive Taxes mean the tax is added on top of the listed price at checkout.
Inclusive Taxes
- The tax amount is included in the listed price of the product or service.
- When a customer sees the price, it already includes the tax, so there are no additional charges at the point of sale.
- For example, if a product is priced at $100 and the tax rate is 10%, the price the customer pays is $100, which includes $90.91 as the base price and $9.09 as tax.
Exclusive Taxes
- The tax amount is not included in the listed price of the product or service.
- The customer will see the base price, and the tax is added at the point of sale.
- For example, if a product is priced at $100 and the tax rate is 10%, the customer pays $110, which includes $100 as the base price and $10 as tax.

Setup Guide
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Accounting > Accounting Options > Tax tab.
Tax Inclusive
- Select the Tax Option.
- Enter the Full Tax Rate decimal.
- Enter the Concessional Tax percentage.
- Enter the Concessional Tax effective period.
- Select the Tax Calculation option.
- Enter the discount rate of Full Tax.
Select 'Show Tax separately on each transaction' (Optional).
Select 'Show Tax reduced rate in Quote' (Optional).
Add Tax Inclusive Schedule (Optional). - Select Save\Exit.
Tax Exclusive
- Select the Tax Option.
- Enter the Full Tax Rate decimal.
- Enter the Concessional Tax percentage.
- Enter the Concessional Tax effective period.
- Select the Tax Calculation option.
Select 'Show Tax separately on each transaction' (Optional).
Select 'Show Tax reduced rate in Quote' (Optional).
Select 'Additional Adults, Children, Infants non-taxable' (Optional).
Select 'Do Not Allow Taxes to be individually voided' (Optional).
Select 'Show Charges subtotal' (Optional).
Select 'Hide taxes that calculate to 0.00' (Optional).
Add Tax Inclusive Schedule (Optional). - Select Save\Exit.
