This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to connect the Shift4 Gateway to RMS.
Overview
Shift4 is a Payment Gateway integrated with RMS, offering PCI-compliant credit card storage and payment processing. A payment gateway is an eCommerce solution provided by merchant services to securely authorize and process credit card transactions in compliance with PCI standards.
By linking a payment gateway account with RMS, users can securely store credit card information, process payments, and issue refunds directly from their RMS account. The setup and functionality of this integration are detailed in this article.
Ecommerce Configuration
An eCommerce payment gateway is a secure technology that processes payments for RMS Online and other card-not-present transactions.
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information.
- Click Edit on an existing Property.
- Navigate to the Payment Gateway menu.
- Toggle the Ecommerce Online Payment Gateway icon.
- Choose Shift4 as the Gateway Provider.
- Enter the Client GUID (provided by Shift4).
- Input the Auth Token (provided by Shift4).
- Click Get Access Token — RMS will automatically generate the token upon selection.
Select the checkbox Allow Blind Refunds (Optional).
Designate a Pre Authorization Calculation rule (Optional). - Select Save/Exit.
EFTPOS Credit Card Terminal Configuration
EFTPOS credit card terminals are used to process electronic payments with the card physically present, using a connected device at the point of sale.
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information.
- Click Edit on an existing Property.
- Navigate to the Payment Gateway menu.
- Toggle the EFTPOS Terminal Payment Gateway icon.
- Choose Shift4 as the Gateway Provider.
- Enter the Client GUID (provided by Shift4).
- Input the Auth Token (provided by Shift4).
- Document the Server URL, which is the device’s IPv4 address with https:// at the beginning.
- Click Get Access Token — RMS will automatically generate the token upon selection.
Select the checkbox Allow Blind Refunds (Optional). - Select Save/Exit.
In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Lookup Tables > EFTPOS (Payment Gateway).
- Select Add.
- Select the Property.
- Enter a unique Description.
- Input the Station Number — this is the API Terminal ID found under the UTG Standalone Device tab.
- Select Save/Exit.
