Information on the Red Dot Payment Gateway

Overview

Red Dot is an eCommerce-only Payment Gateway available in RMS to provide PCI-compliant credit card storage and payment processing.

Payment Gateways are an eCommerce application provided by merchant services to authorise and process credit card payments in a PCI-compliant manner.

Connecting a Payment Gateway account with RMS provides secure credit card storage, payment processing, and refunds directly from an account in RMS.

Red Dot cannot process a refund on the same Accounting Date as the original receipt. If a payment is being returned the same day as it was taken, the 'Reverse Receipt' function can be used.

Important! Red Dot is not supported on the New Booking Engine and will not be migrated to it. Online bookings are not affected. Guests are asked for their credit card details at checkout, and those details are stored in the RMS Vault for the Property to retrieve and process manually. No payment or deposit is taken online, even where a Deposit Rule is configured. To collect deposits online, switch to RMS Pay or another supported Payment Gateway.

Supported Functions

Transaction Type Definitions

EFTPOS (Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale):
Electronic payments processed with the card present using a connected device
at the time of sale.

eCommerce:
All card transactions processed electronically via the Internet.
This includes payments processed in RMS with a credit card token or card details,
as well as payments processed via the Guest Portal.

Blind Refunds:
Blind refunds permit users to refund any nominated value through the
payment gateway to any available credit card token.
The ability to perform a blind refund must be enabled in the payment gateway
account prior to being enabled in RMS.

Guide

In the side menu of RMS, go to Setup > Property Options > Property Information.

1. Select Edit on an existing Property.
   
    
2. Navigate to the 'Payment Gateway' tab.
3. Select the 'Ecommerce' toggle.
4. Select 'Red Dot' as the Payment Gateway.
5. Enter the Merchant Number (Provided by Red Dot).
6. Enter the Secret Key (Provided by Red Dot).
7. Select the Pre Authorisation Calculation.
   (Optional) Select the checkbox 'Warn on Check-in if no Pre Authorisation exists'.
8. Select Save/Exit.
   

Credit Card payments using the Red Dot payment gateway will open a securely encrypted payment window when selecting 'Process' on the Receipt screen in RMS.
