This article outlines the supported browsers, operating systems, devices, and internet requirements for using RMS.
Overview
Before accessing RMS, ensure your hardware, operating system, browser, and internet connection meet the requirements outlined in this article. RMS is a cloud-based property management application that runs entirely in your web browser, so no software installation is required. However, your device and network must meet certain minimum specifications to ensure a stable and responsive experience.
Before you begin accessing RMS, ensure that your hardware meets the minimum requirements listed below. You will need to verify your processor, memory, and available storage meet the specifications for your operating system.
RMS can be accessed on a variety of devices and browsers. This article outlines the supported browsers, operating systems, screen resolutions, mobile devices, and internet connection requirements for accessing and using RMS.
Use this guide to verify that your hardware and network meet the minimum and recommended specifications for the best experience.
Supported Internet Browsers
RMS supports the two most recent versions of the following internet browsers. Both Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled in the browser. For optimal display, set the zoom level to 100% or press F11 to enter full-screen mode.
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Safari
- Microsoft Edge
Supported Screen Resolutions
RMS is compatible with the following screen resolutions. If you are using a tablet that does not meet the minimum resolution below, toggle to the mobile view for a better experience.
| Desktop | Notebook | Tablet |
|---|---|---|
| 1920 x 1080 px | 1366 x 768 px | 1024 x 768 px |
Computer Operating Systems
RMS can be accessed on any desktop or laptop computer connected to the internet, running one of the following operating systems.
- Windows: Windows 10 or later (including Windows 11).
- Mac: macOS Catalina 10.15 or later.
- Linux: 64-bit Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 10+, openSUSE 15.2+, or Fedora Linux 33+.
Compatible Mobile Devices
RMS can be accessed on most smartphones and tablets connected to the internet. Access RMS via one of the supported internet browsers listed above on your mobile device.
Compatible mobile devices will default to the mobile view of the RMS application.
- Android: Android 12 or later.
- iOS: iOS 16 or later.
Minimum Recommended System Requirements
Any computer meeting the minimum browser and operating system requirements will be able to access RMS. The specifications below are recommended for the best user experience.
| Component | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| CPU (Central Processing Unit) | Intel Core i3 or AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) equivalent, 2.8 GHz or higher |
| RAM (Random Access Memory) | 4 GB (gigabytes) or higher |
| Screen Resolution | 1920 x 1080 or higher |
Internet Connection Requirements
RMS strongly recommends a dedicated internet connection for office use only. Sharing a connection with guests can cause significant network congestion, resulting in poor application performance.
Data Transfer Sizes
The figures below represent typical data transfer sizes for the most frequently used parts of the system, based on a database with 200 areas. Transfer sizes are shown in KB (kilobytes).
| Screen | Transfer Size |
|---|---|
| Reservation Screen | 10 KB |
| In/Out Movements | 20 KB |
| Booking Chart | 40 KB |
| Rate Manager | 15 KB |
| Availability Chart | 15 KB |
Bandwidth Requirements
Connection requirements vary depending on usage. The figures below are recommended for a connection shared by 3–4 moderately active users.
| Minimum Bandwidth | Recommended Bandwidth |
|---|---|
| Download: 0.5 Mbps or more Upload: 0.25 Mbps or more |
Download: 1.5 Mbps or more Upload: 0.25 Mbps or more |
Printers
Any printer can be used for printing in RMS. RMS does not include printer settings within the application — all printer configuration is managed through your computer's operating system.
Terminal Services and Remote Desktop
RMS does not recommend using terminal services or a remote desktop environment due to the graphics-intensive nature of the application. Multiple benchmarks and real-world examples have shown that running RMS locally, even on slower hardware, outperforms remote desktop in most scenarios.
